Contact implementation

If you have a correction, a better official source, or a guest-post pitch that already cites primary material, use the form below.

If you need a room, a car, a tee time, a permit, a rates notice or a ranger, stop. Open About and use the official column.

Do not use this form in an emergency. In Australia, call 000.

What happens when you write

The form posts through FormSubmit to the editorial address published in the site footer. We read for factual errors first. We do not run a concierge.

Please include a URL and the official document you think we missed. “I heard the ferry is coming back” is not a source.

Official contacts we are not

  • King Island Council — kingisland.tas.gov.au. Discover Tasmania’s airport listing also publishes kicouncil@kingisland.tas.gov.au and (03) 6462 9000 for that facility. Those are council contacts, not ours.
  • King Island Tourism — kingisland.org.au, tourism@kingisland.org.au on their site.

If you arrived from Contact.aspx or Feedback.html, those were 2009 dairy-brand paths. They 301 here so the backlink still reaches a human sentence.

What not to send

Passports, card numbers, medical records, or a booking reference you think we can change. We cannot change a booking. We can change a sentence if your official PDF is better than ours.

Response time

This is not a call centre. If the note is a correction with a source, it goes to the front of the queue. If the note is “what’s the cheapest car,” it goes to Getting here and the official visitor guide.

Who should use this form

Use it if you can point at a primary page we should have cited: King Island Council, King Island Tourism, Discover Tasmania / Tourism Tasmania, Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania, the Bureau of Meteorology, AMSA, or Biosecurity Tasmania.

Use it if you want to pitch a guest post that already has those sources. Read How to pitch first so we are not the first people to mention “no invented prices.”

Use it if a heritage 301 surprised you — if you followed /Products.aspx or /History.aspx from a 2009 backlink and expected cheese-brand history. Those paths now land on Produce and History so the link still reaches a real sentence. Tell us if a destination feels wrong.

Who should not use this form

Anyone who needs a booking. We cannot hold a car, a room, a tee time or a seat. Official visitor listings and the operators themselves do that work.

Anyone who needs a civic service. Rates, planning, waste, airport operations and road questions belong to King Island Council. Discover Tasmania’s airport listing publishes council contact details for that facility; those are not our details.

Anyone who needs a visitor-centre voice. King Island Tourism is the official guide. They list operators. We cite them.

Anyone in an emergency. Triple Zero (000) in Australia. This inbox is not staffed like a duty phone.

What to put in the message

A useful correction looks like this:

  1. The URL on this site (for example /golf/ or /guides/when-to-visit/).
  2. The sentence you think is wrong.
  3. The official URL that should replace or qualify it.
  4. The date you checked that official URL.

A useful pitch looks like this:

  1. The question the piece will answer.
  2. The official sources, listed.
  3. The claims you refuse to make.
  4. Whether you have been on the island, and when — truthfully.

A useful “I am lost” note is usually not for us. If you are lost on the island, you want a host, a map and, if it is serious, emergency services. If you are lost on this website, start at FAQ or Home.

Why the form is not a mailto link

Mailto forms fail on phones, leak the address to scrapers, and cannot include a honeypot. Fleet practice for this rebuild is a native FormSubmit POST to the editorial inbox published in the footer. The site is hosted on Vercel. The honeypot field is labelled for machines, not for you. Leave it empty.

We do not test-submit the live form from development. If the button fails, the page already tells you to email the same address directly.

Independence, repeated because the domain invites confusion

kingisland.com.au is not the council and not official tourism. The 2009 archive of this hostname was a King Island Dairy brand site. Contact.aspx and Feedback.html were brand paths. They 301 here so a backlink still reaches a human. They do not 301 to a dairy inbox, a council inbox, or a visitor-centre inbox.

If you write to us asking for a cheese refund, a rates receipt, or a tourism booking, we will send you the official door and close the tab. That is not rudeness. That is the only honest use of a place-name domain we do not want mistaken for government.

Privacy of what you send

Read Privacy. Do not send passports, payment-card numbers, medical files or a child’s personal information. We cannot change an airline booking even if you paste the reference.

Response shape

A sourced correction gets a change on the next editorial pass, or a short note explaining why the official page we already cite still stands. A pitch gets a yes, a no, or a request for the two-paragraph sample. A “what’s cheapest” question gets a link to Getting here and Stay, which already refuse to invent a price.

There is no SLA and no ticket number. There is a person reading for facts.

Questions people actually ask

Where can I contact the publisher?

Use the form on this page. It submits via FormSubmit to the editorial inbox. For official tourism or council matters, use those organisations’ own contacts.

Can you book my car or tee time?

No. We do not take bookings or pass messages to operators.
